Rahway, New Jersey – The New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJ FMBA), the union representing more than 5,000 firefighters, EMTs and dispatchers throughout New Jersey, held a rally earlier today, Wednesday, January 18, to announce their endorsement of Sheriff Joe Cryan’s campaign for Senate in New Jersey’s 20 th Legislative District. The announcement comes just a week after NJ FMBA members voted unanimously at their monthly statewide meeting to endorse Cryan, and was held at Roselle Fire Headquarters.
Assemblyman Jamel Holley and Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, both endorsed by the NJ FMBA in previous campaigns, also attended the event along with career firefighters, EMTs and dispatchers from Elizabeth, Hillside, Roselle and Union, all represented by the NJ FMBA.
“Joe Cryan has built a career in public service around standing firm in his beliefs, never wavering based on which why political winds are blowing,” stated Eddie Donnelly, President, NJ FMBA. “In our job it’s critical that we know who has our backs. Joe Cryan has always had our backs, now we are going to have his.”
In making their decision, the NJ FMBA considered Sheriff Cryan’s record as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly including joining in the fight to protect pensions, supporting efforts to pass cancer presumptive legislation, and helping to insure safe working conditions. As Sheriff, Joe Cryan has continued to support all first responders.
"I am always proud to stand by the side of Ed Donnelly and the New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association," said Cryan. "The work being done every day by FMBA members in our neighborhoods is a testament to their courage and their sacrifice and I am extremely grateful for their endorsement of our campaign for State Senate."
