Senate candidate Joe Cryan currently serves as Union County’s elected Sheriff, where he has overseen the County’s successful gun buy back program and worked with state and local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of our streets and neighborhoods.

Sheriff Cryan has dedicated his life to the service of our communities, serving as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2002 through 2015 and as an Undersheriff in the Union County Sheriff’s Department before succeeding his mentor, Ralph Froehlich, as County Sheriff.

Sheriff Cryan served on the Law and Public Safety Committee and as Majority Leader in the General Assembly beginning in 2010 and was also elected to be the head of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee for four years, beginning in 2006.
